Happy LGBTQ+ Pride Month!

As many of you may know, June is pride month commemorating the Stonewall riots in NYC, which occurred at the end of June 1969. In the late 60’s the LGBTQ+ population took to the streets in NYC to protest the legally and politically repressive policies against the community. These riots represented a turning point for the LGBTQ+ population which supported an increase in awareness and the beginning of a cultural shift for the community. On Sunday, June 9, 2019, Warwick, NY held it’s annual Pride Parade at the Warwick Valley Community Center. This event was extremely well attended by a community of compassionate individuals. Sugar Loaf Mental Wellness had a booth with various other vendors where we gave away free journals, pens and pride face painting to get ready for the parade. We had a blast at the event and felt the outpouring of love and support from the entire community and it’s allies. We are looking forward to attending the festival and parade again next year! Here are some pictures that were taken of the event.
