Born this Way | LGBTQQAI+ Parental Support Group

Parents of LGBTQQAI+ children will find a safe and comforting setting in our Born This Way support group. It’s important for parents to remember and recognize that each child is unique to themselves and has their own individual feelings and experiences.

Victoria Britton, LCSW, Child, Teen, and Family Specialist, leads the parent's group offering guidance to prepare them to handle the unique challenges faced by their lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning (LGBTQ) child. 

Born This Way will begin on July 26 from 7-8PM for six weeks in our Warwick, NY location.

Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones is the latest group at Sugar Loaf Mental Wellness developed especially for preschool children heading off to Kindergarten in September. Victoria Britton, LCSW, Child, Teen, and Family Specialist, will welcome Kindergarten bound children to prepare for the transition to a school setting.

Worries and nervousness will be discussed, providing group members with the necessary tools and confidence needed to enter the Kindergarten classroom without fear or hesitation.

You’ve Got This

𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 counseling and support group is open to young people ages 10-14.

Participants will find the in-person group space to be a safe and comforting setting to discuss communication skills, group membership, how to express their feelings, self-care and self-love, empathy, problem-solving skills, conflict management, and advocating for self.

Additional space is available for virtual attendance. Designed and led by an SLMW clinical therapist, Victoria Britton, LCSW, meeting weekly on Mondays, beginning on May 24, for six consecutive weeks. $40 per session; out-of-network insurance accepted.

 LGBTQ + Teen Support and Counseling Group

The LGBTQ+ Teen Support Group is a counseling and support group that will meet weekly for 6 weeks starting on June 7th. Designed and led by SLMW's seasoned licensed clinical therapist, Victoria Britton. The mission of this group is to create a safe and supportive environment for all young people regardless of identity and sexual orientation. Participants of this group will have the opportunity to be affirmed and to connect with other peers to discuss and increase hope, connectedness, and to increase positive coping skills. Surviving Loss Support and Counseling Group

Loss is universal aspect of human life. It brings with it an inevitable period of pain and readjustment. However, personal growth, strengthening of bonds, and the building of new connections can have a healing impact on the grieving process. Participants will have the opportunity to explore their experiences of loss, connect with other grieving individuals, and be guided in activities meant to foster healthy processing of emotions and personal changes brought about by loss.
